IBEW Local 1426 (Grand Forks ND) Members Finish Smart-Wire Certification

Area Smart-Wire electricians recently completed a level one instrumentation course and are now eligible for certification from the Electrical Power Research Institute.

Donald Bleth and Derrick Olson both of Grand Forks, Josh Beck of East Grand Forks, Rodney Hoffman of Hillsboro, N.D., and Paul Dub of Manvel, N.D., all members of IBEW Local 1426, attended a weeklong seminar and took their certification tests.

EPRI certification will allow the Smart-Wire electricians to supervise installation of a number of new instrumentation technologies now surfacing in the construction industry. Smart-Wire is a partnership between the National Electrical Contractors Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to provide highly qualified electricians with specialized skills for major construction projects in the Dakotas and western Minnesota.
