LIPA Unveils Solar Powered Building

It's being called another step in the right direction toward energy self sufficiency. The building that houses Local 25 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Hauppauge will be getting its power from a hydrogen fuel cell and solar panels.

The five kilowatt fuel cell and the 15-kilowatt solar system is being unveiled today by the Long Island Power Authority.

LIPA says the power system will supply most of the building's electrical needs, reducing it's reliance on energy produced by oil, gotten from foreign countries.
