Employees at Madsen Electric in Tacoma recently gathered to fix up a house for a Hilltop resident after being tipped off about her need by the Metropolitan Development Council.
The woman lived in a home with bare stud walls, no appliances, no heat source, no insulation and no electrical wiring. Over two weekends Madsen employees, led by project manager John Reardon, donated their time and labor to rewire the house and put in walls and heat.
Madsen Electric donated materials, and the Metropolitan Development Council provided insulation.
Madsen Electric, owned by Rocky Sharp, is located at 3939 S. Orchard St., Tacoma. It has been in business since 1948 and employs about 130 people.
Some of the company’s other volunteer efforts have included working with Habitat for Humanity in Aberdeen, donating labor to the Job Carr Cabin and Northwest Trek, working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers/National Electrical Contractors Association on the Fourth of July Freedom Fair, and participating in Christmas in April, an annual event in which houses are upgraded in Hoquiam.
