IBEW Local 1600 Settles with PPL

Union ratifies four-year contract with PPL Corp.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Members of Local 1600 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have ratified a new, four-year labor contract with P-P-L Corporation.

The contract provides wage increases of 3.35% in each of the first two years, and increases of 3.45% and 3.5% in the last two years. Other changes include the ability of union workers to receive annual incentive pay and improvements in retirement benefits. The contract also includes provisions for health care and work rule changes.

Local 1600 represents about 3500 P-P-L employees in Pennsylvania.

The previous four-year labor agreement expired on May 7th. Union workers agreed to continue working until a new agreement was ratified.
