Toledo Edison workers ratify 3-year contract
Toledo Edison workers ratified a three-year contract last night.
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 245, which has nearly 600 members, approved the contract after negotiating since November.
Jim Murray, western region president for FirstEnergy Corp., the parent company of Toledo Edison, said the previous three-year contract expired at the end of October and rolled over for another year.
The union asked to reopen negotiations on issues including wages and dental-care costs, he said.
"It's a fair, equitable offer," he said. "It's been accepted by probably 15 other unions.
